The Travelling Ookpik - Day Eight

On the road again!

Day eight of Chimo's adventures has brought our little Ookpik all the way from Anaheim, California to Holbrook, Arizona- and a long day of travelling it was, too!

The day's drive began with a windstorm as Chimo admired the epic windfarms of the interior of California.

Though the day dawned rather gloomy and grey, almost immediately after crossing the state line into Arizona the weather improved and then it was cacti and blue sky as far as the eye could see for the remainder of the day.

Taking a short stop in the small town of Wickenburg (to purchase undrinkable coffee) Chimo paused at the historical (and photogenic) jail tree (used as a jail in place of a "hoosegow" from 1863 to 1890) for a quick snapshot.

The rest of the day was rather uneventful (inasmuch as the sun went down at 5:30 and there was little to see and/or photograph in the dark), but before sunset Chimo was present to celebrate the 3000th kilometre of his road trip!

Tomorrow Chimo is off to New Mexico ("Land of Enchantment" state) and the famous Turquoise Trail!

The Travelling Ookpik - Day Seven!

Today is the last day of the Travelling Ookpik's Disney adventure!

Chimo's day started as every travelling Ookpik's day should start- with a saccharine High School Musical song and dance number. (It should be noted that both the author and Chimo could only stand ten seconds of this before they both had to excuse themselves.)

Afterwards Chimo got to meet up with another new friend named Lindsay! A wonderfully good-time was had by all, and Lindsay was even kind enough to pose with Chimo for a photoshoot in front of a statue of this famous guy and his mouse.

Later at the Sword in the Stone, Chimo learned that he was not, in fact, the rightful king of England.

After the disappointment at the Sword in the Stone, Chimo went to console himself at the Disney princess Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boutique.

Diamond tiaras are an Ookpik's best friend.

Chimo was ever-so-fond of the Alice in Wonderland twirling tea cups.

Leaving Fantasyland for the last time, Chimo paused to pose with a famous duck.

Riding the Autopia cars (which was a rather disappointing ride, all things considered) Chimo spotted an amusing warning. No spontaneous dance parties in Autopia- this is not a Bollywood film.

And as his final day at Disneyland drew to a close, Chimo returned to his hotel with a souvenir in tow- If there is any souvenir better than Nightmare Before Christmas mouse ears, Chimo does not want to hear about it.

And thus we have come to the end of the first half of Chimo's road trip adventure! Tomorrow our little Ookpik heads East towards Arizona! Onward, little ookpik!
