The Travelling Ookpik - Day Eight

On the road again!

Day eight of Chimo's adventures has brought our little Ookpik all the way from Anaheim, California to Holbrook, Arizona- and a long day of travelling it was, too!

The day's drive began with a windstorm as Chimo admired the epic windfarms of the interior of California.

Though the day dawned rather gloomy and grey, almost immediately after crossing the state line into Arizona the weather improved and then it was cacti and blue sky as far as the eye could see for the remainder of the day.

Taking a short stop in the small town of Wickenburg (to purchase undrinkable coffee) Chimo paused at the historical (and photogenic) jail tree (used as a jail in place of a "hoosegow" from 1863 to 1890) for a quick snapshot.

The rest of the day was rather uneventful (inasmuch as the sun went down at 5:30 and there was little to see and/or photograph in the dark), but before sunset Chimo was present to celebrate the 3000th kilometre of his road trip!

Tomorrow Chimo is off to New Mexico ("Land of Enchantment" state) and the famous Turquoise Trail!
